Alliance / Fairmount Children's Home - Stark county,Ohio

On Route 183 heading towards Minerva, behind the Fairmount Greenhouse is an old beat down Orphanage. 3 stories off the ground and with a humongous basement that has tunnels leading all over.Going inside the house you will frequently hear voices, footsteps, see people outside while you are inside, feelings of being watched, and see shadows on walls. You just get an overall creepy feeling just by looking at the place.

RU tower - Sterling,Ohio

Two trains collided head of on Jan. 17, 1969. Five men were kill, as a B&O Extra past and absolute stop signal and headed directed into the path of an on coming Erie freight killing the engineer, firemen, and headed brakemen of the Erie, and engineer and firemen of the B&O. Haunting occurs cold clear nights when air is still. You can hear two different trains but nothing comes, and crossing gates at Kauffman Ave. go up and down for no reason.

Sylvania / Gibbs Bridge - Toledo,Ohio

Revving of motorcycle; yelling. Apparently, in the seventies, a male high school student drove his motorcycle home from school after football practice. A couple bullies were hiding on each side of the bridge with a fish line going across. The bullies had secured the line to trees. As the motorcycle student rode over the bridge he was decapitated. To this day, if one parks there car on the bridge at midnight, put the car keys on the roof of the car, and flash the headlights three times you'll hear a motorcycle and yelling.(The yelling is garbled.) The legend has been known as "Xanadu."

Grove Cemetery - Troy,Ohio

Grove Cemetery is one of the oldest and most haunted cemeteries in Troy, Ohio. It was established in 1807 by John Knisley, a pioneer who donated the land for the burial ground. It has over 10,000 graves, some dating back to the Revolutionary War, when Troy was a frontier town. Many visitors have reported seeing apparitions, hearing voices, feeling cold spots, and experiencing other paranormal phenomena. Some of the most haunted areas of the cemetery are the Potter's Field, where unclaimed bodies were buried in mass graves without markers; the Civil War section, where soldiers who died in battle or from disease were laid to rest with simple headstones; and the Children's section, where many young lives were cut short by epidemics or accidents. Some of the most notorious spirits that haunt Grove Cemetery are the Lady in White, who wanders the grounds looking for her lost lover, who was killed in a duel; the Phantom Horseman, who rides a black horse through the cemetery at night, carrying a lantern and a sword; and the Screaming Woman, who lets out a blood-curdling scream near the entrance gate, startling anyone who passes by. Grove Cemetery is a place of history and mystery, where the dead do not rest in peace.

Maple Grove Cemetery - Vermilion,Ohio

There's an angel above a grave, that is haunted. Legend goes...mother killed her daughter, and then died a few years later, after the family had put angel by daughter's grave. It is said that angry spirit of mother resides in angel. Sometime after mother died, local livestock began to show up mysteriously slaughtered in cruel, sadistic manner. Blood was found on
hands and mouth of angel, prompting locals to suspect the mother had
possessed the angel, and was doing the vile deeds. Local officials took
matters into their own hands, clipping the wings of the angels and
cutting off the hands. After this, the angel was forced to remain
within the cemetery, flightless and without ability to kill. Soon
after, rusty streak marks developed under the angel's eyes, as though
she was crying for her sins.

The Old Mill - Wilmington,Ohio

The old mill was built before the civil war. A man that fought during the war brought back illegal slave children about 9 of them. The man would beat the children constantly for doing little things like laughing or having a good time.
The man locked the children away from everything they once loved to do.
One night while the man was sleeping the children entered his bedroom and slaughter the old man. you can see little kids at night running around, or even here screams coming for the cries of the children.
Sometimes when you enter their cabin you can actually see all the
little children getting there revenge on the old man. And you can
sometimes see a man and two children standing in front of the cabin he will be holding one child’s hand and with the other he will be holding his hat a crossed his heart staring at you.

Moonville Tunnel - Zaleski,Ohio

Near the Zaleski CCC Camp is an old railway tunnel named Moonville Tunnel. The tunnel is still there and many local kids swim there in the creek. In the 1800's during a thunderstorm the trestle or train bridge was washed out. With no other way to stop the train the signalman stood this side of the creek where the trestle had stood. On the opposite bank was just about 20 feet then the tunnel itself. On the other side of the tunnel was a turn in the track. It was near midnight so the story goes when the signalman was
waving the lantern to warn of danger. He knew it was of little use
because of the layout of the track and tunnel before the trestle. The
train probably didn't even see his light before crashing into the
ravine below. A lot of people died that night in the crash. People who
live down in the area swear that they've been to the tunnel on the
anniversary of the tragic disaster. They swear that you can clearly see
the signalman lamp swinging it's warning and you can see the light of
the oncoming train.

Helltown - Boston Mills, Ohio

In this town, there are two mysterious roads-both dead ends. The first road gradually becomes a hill. On the hill there is a house that remains completed illuminated at night, though it is said that no one lives there. At the crest of hill, there is a sign that says “Road Closed,” yet the road continues; the remainder is said to be haunted. On the second road, there is aid to be a haunted cemetery. Tress have been to known to move. It is also said that a ghosts sits on a bench in the cemetery and stares blankly into creation.

The Collinwood School - Cleveland, Ohio

Now a state monument, this school was the site of a huge fire in the early twentieth century. Over one hundred people died because the doors in the school opened inwardly rather than outwardly, preventing escape. Residents that live near the school have reported seeing a light come on in one room, traverse the hall and go back from whence it came. Police investigated and found no one living in the building.

Abandoned House - Columbus, Ohio

It is said that whoever lives in this house is savagely murdered by something unknown. After two people were found dead in the 1960s, the house stayed empty until the late 1980s when it was occupied by a cult. Two years later, flashing lights were seen coming from the house; police found eight decapitated bodies. It is said that if one goes to the site, there will be eight ghosts that will carry on conversations with one another. It is also said that the shadow of a body may been seen in a tree near the house.

The Air Force Museum - Dayton, Ohio

The air museum took artifacts from an unlucky plane that crashed in the mountains. Victims of the crash have been seen staring at the display, and when security guards attempted to arrest them, they vanished. Soldiers who died in World War 1, World War 2, and the Vietnam Conflict have also been seen standing near or inside their plane. While staring blankly at the plane, guards would try to converse with them, which caused the spirits to disappear.

Large Brick House - East Rushville, Ohio

This house is said to have belonged to a doctor during the antebellum period. A conductor on the Underground Railroad, the doctor helped many slaves escape to freedom. One slave, however, died on the way to Canada. It is said that this slave had wanted to earn money to go back and buy the freedom of his girlfriend-Nelly Gray. In response to the tragedy, the doctor�s son wrote the Civil War song, which became very popular in the North, “Darling Nelly Gray.” Since that time, the house has been haunted by an unknown ghost. It is so plagued by the apparition, that the deed of the house notes that it is haunted.

House on B.I.S. Rd - Lancaster, Ohio

In 1899, a sixteen year old maid named Gail Parish and her father came from nearby Athens County to work for the family of the mansion. Her father, a blacksmith, hired a young man named Johnny Kelly to assist him in the smithy. Gail and Johnny soon became lovers, and when her father and the owners of the mansion found out, they forbade to two ever to see each other again. Jilted, Johnny broke into Gail’s room one night and slit her throat with a shaving knife. In her blood on the stairwell he wrote “If I cannot have you, no one can.” It is said that if one uses a Ouija board to conjure the spirit of Gail, her calico dress will appear in the closet.

Old Zane Mansion - Martins Ferry, Ohio

This mansion is located on the site of an old cemetery. Constantly, the town and cemetery were being flooded, thus they were both moved to another location. When the coffins were moved, it is said that Hannah Zane�s was empty. The house, which used to be an occult and a bordello, is now said to be haunted by Hannah.. There have been reports of her walking up and down the halls and dancing in the living room. There have also been reports of a small child staring out of the window on the stairwell. Others have alleged being able to feel on woman�s hand rubbing on their shoulder only to turn around and find no one there.

Elks Club - Miami, Ohio

When Scarlet Fever swept through this town in the early 1900s, this then church was converted to a makeshift hospital to combat the disease. The priest of the church was also a doctor, and volunteered to help the victims. As time passed, he became infected as well, and eventually died. He is often supposedly seen upstairs, where the infected patients once stayed, and has been heard playing the piano downstairs.

James A. Garfield House - Mentor, Ohio

This house, which is now a National Landmark, was the former residence of president James A. Garfield. Security guards have reported hearing the president�s wife, Lucretia, walking upstairs at night. She is said to turn lights on after the guards have turned them off. While renovating the inside of the house, worked tended to leave the room in which they were work a mess. The next morning, everything would be neatly in place.

Motorcycle Crash - Oxford, Ohio

It is said that many years ago, a serial rapist was running rampant through the town. Late one night a car pulled up to one female's house and started flashing the lights and honking the horn. Fearing that it was the rapist, the young lady called her beau to come and protect her. Hurriedly trying to reach his love, the man was killed trying to make a sharp turn on his motorcycle. Allegedly, if one goes to the site of the girl�s house and flashes his lights and honks his horn, the light of the motorcycle may be seen coming around the bend.

“The Glowing Horseshoe” - Perry County, Ohio

In the mid 1800s a young hunk named James Henry lived in the area. In love with two different women, the man could not decide which one he wanted to marry. When he fell asleep one night, instead of pulling the man and the buggy home, the horse took him to the house of one of the young ladies. James then decided to marry her. The two were happy for a long time until the woman became ill and died. James visited Otterbein Cemetery everyday to put flowers on his wife’s grave. One day at the cemetery, he saw the other young woman he had been courting before marrying his first wife. The two quickly became romantically involved and soon married. He stopped going to the grave of his first wife and soon all the flowers died. One day, a passerby saw a bloody horseshoe on the woman’s tombstone. He told James that it was an ill omen, but James did not listen. The next day, James’s new wife found him dead in the horse stables–there was an imprint of a horseshoe in his forehead. Now when its foggy, it is said that one may hear horse’s hoofs going up and down Otterbein Road.

Hemphill Road - Roundhead, Ohio

This property was owned by Robert Hemp and it is said that he is buried beneath the front porch. Every person that has lived in the house has reported many strange noises and figures of a man in a top hat. One family said that while they always kept the heater on eighty, one room in the basement would be freezing cold. Another family kept a Bible open in the living room to a certain verse. Allegedly, each time they left home and returned, they would find the Bible on another verse–the verse which was read at Hemp’s funeral.

Maud Hughes Road - Westchester, Ohio

It is said that many years ago, a young couple was driving across the bridge. Amid a heated argument, the girl became so angry that she opened the door and jumped out of the car. Falling to her death, it is said that she let out a primal scream. Allegedly, if one drives across the bridge, the girl may still be heard screaming.
