Tom Cypher’s Phatom Engine

Tom Cypher’s Phantom Engine: A Mysterious Legend of the Northern Pacific Railroad

If you are a fan of ghost stories and trains, you might have heard of Tom Cypher’s Phantom Engine, a mysterious locomotive that is said to haunt the Eagle Gorge in the Cascades, Washington. The legend goes back to 1892, when a train engineer named Tom Cypher was killed in a horrific accident at the gorge, along with his fireman and brakeman. According to some accounts, Cypher was trying to avoid a collision with another train that was running wild on the same track, but he failed to stop his engine in time and plunged into the abyss.

Ever since then, some people claim to have seen Cypher’s engine, No. 33, running along the track at night, with its headlight shining and its whistle blowing. Some say it is a ghostly apparition, while others believe it is a real engine that somehow escaped from the wreck and continued to roam the rails. Some even say that they have seen Cypher himself on the pilot of the engine, waving his lantern or gesturing to warn other trains of danger.

The legend of Tom Cypher’s Phantom Engine has been featured in several books and articles, as well as a 2018 episode of the TV show Mysteries at the Museum. It has also inspired some fictional works, such as a short story by Stephen King called “The Reaper’s Image”, which features a haunted mirror that shows the image of Cypher’s engine. The legend has also been a source of fascination for many train enthusiasts and paranormal investigators, who have tried to find evidence of the phantom engine or explain its origin.

Some possible explanations for the legend are:

- It is a hallucination caused by fatigue, stress or fear among the train crews who work on the dangerous route.

- It is a reflection or projection of another train’s headlight or lantern on the misty air or foggy windows.

- It is a hoax or prank perpetrated by someone who wants to scare or fool other people.

- It is a manifestation of collective memory or folklore that keeps alive the memory of a tragic event.

- It is a paranormal phenomenon that defies rational explanation.

Whatever the truth behind Tom Cypher’s Phantom Engine may be, it remains one of the most intriguing and enduring legends of the Northern Pacific Railroad and American ghost stories.

Hell Dogs of Eldorado Canyon, NV

If you are looking for a spooky adventure in Nevada, you might want to visit Eldorado Canyon, a place that is said to be haunted by the ghosts of miners, outlaws, and even dogs. Yes, you read that right. Dogs.

Eldorado Canyon is a historic mining area that was once rich in silver and gold. It was also a lawless and violent place, where murders, robberies, and shootouts were common. Many people died here, either by natural causes or by the hands of others. Some of their restless spirits are believed to still linger in the canyon, especially near the old mines and buildings.

But perhaps the most intriguing and terrifying ghost stories of Eldorado Canyon are those of the hellhounds. These are not ordinary dogs, but vicious and spectral canines that were once owned by the miners to guard their claims. According to legend, these dogs were trained to attack any intruders, and many of them met their fate by being shot, starved, or abandoned by their owners.

Some people claim that these dogs still haunt the canyon, roaming in packs and hunting for prey. They are said to be invisible, but their presence can be felt by their panting, growling, and scratching sounds. Some even report being chased or attacked by these phantom hounds, feeling their teeth and claws on their flesh.

One of the most famous stories of the hellhounds involves two brothers who decided to camp near an old mine shaft in Eldorado Canyon. They found a chain embedded in the rock wall near the entrance, and a pile of bones that looked like a dog's skeleton inside the mine. As night fell, they heard coyotes howling in the distance, but soon they felt a strange and oppressive atmosphere around them. They heard heavy breathing and snarling noises coming from all directions, and saw the chain moving as if something was pulling it. They grabbed their gear and ran to their car, but they were followed by a pack of invisible dogs that kept pace with them for several miles.

This is just one of many stories of the hellhounds of Eldorado Canyon. If you are brave enough to visit this place, you might want to bring some protection with you. And don't forget to respect the spirits of those who died here, human or animal. You never know what might be lurking in the shadows.

Haunted St Elmo, CO

If you are looking for a spooky adventure in Colorado, you might want to visit St Elmo, a ghost town that is said to be haunted by the spirits of its former residents. St Elmo was once a bustling mining town with over 2,000 people, but it became a ghost town after the mines closed and the railroad stopped running in the 1920s. Today, you can explore the well-preserved buildings and relics of St Elmo's past, but be prepared to encounter some paranormal activity along the way.

One of the most famous ghosts of St Elmo is Annabelle Stark, also known as Dirty Annie. She was the daughter of Anton and Anna Stark, who owned a general store and a hotel in St Elmo. Annabelle was known to be eccentric and rude, and she often carried a shotgun to scare away unwanted visitors. She lived in St Elmo until her death in 1960, and some say she never left. Many people have reported seeing her ghost wandering the streets or peering out of the windows of her old home. Some have even heard her voice or felt her presence.

Another haunted spot in St Elmo is the Mary Murphy Mine, which was the largest and most successful mine in the area. The mine produced millions of dollars worth of gold and silver, but it also claimed many lives due to accidents and explosions. Some of the miners who died in the mine are believed to haunt the tunnels and shafts, making noises or moving objects. Some visitors have also seen apparitions of miners dressed in old-fashioned clothing or heard their voices echoing in the dark.

St Elmo is not for the faint of heart, but it is a fascinating place to learn about Colorado's history and experience some supernatural phenomena. You can visit St Elmo year-round, but be aware that the roads can be snowy and icy in winter. You can also stay overnight at one of the cabins or campgrounds nearby, but don't be surprised if you hear some strange sounds or see some eerie sights during your stay.

"The Haunting of Maple House"

It was a dark and stormy night, and Lily was all alone in her old, creaky house. She had just moved in and was feeling a bit uneasy in the unfamiliar surroundings. As she was settling into bed, she heard a faint knocking at the door.

Lily cautiously approached the door and peered through the peephole, but there was no one there. Just as she was about to turn back to her room, she heard the knocking again, this time louder and more persistent. She slowly opened the door, but once again, there was no one in sight.

As she closed the door, Lily heard a whisper in her ear. She quickly turned around, but there was no one there. The whispers continued, and soon, Lily realized that she was not alone in the house. The ghostly whispers grew louder and more intense, and Lily felt a cold chill run down her spine.

Suddenly, the ghostly figure of a woman appeared before her, dressed in old-fashioned clothing and with a sad expression on her face. The woman began to tell Lily about her tragic past and how she had died in the very same house years ago. She had been unable to move on from this world and was seeking help to find peace.

Lily felt a wave of empathy and compassion for the ghostly woman and decided to help her find peace. Together, they uncovered the truth behind the woman's tragic past and resolved the unresolved issues that had kept her spirit bound to the house.

In the end, the ghostly figure disappeared, and Lily felt a sense of relief and closure. Though she was still a bit unnerved by the experience, she knew that she had helped someone find peace and was glad that she had followed her heart.

The Death Ship of the Platte River, Wyoming

On the Platte River between Torrington and Alcova, Wyoming, a legend persists that a “Ship of Death” continues to sail upon the sometimes dangerous waters. The phantom ship is said to rise out of a strange mist that quickly becomes a massive rolling ball of fog. As the ship grows closer, witnesses report that its sails and masts are covered with frost. Upon its deck stands the crew, also covered with frost, and huddled around a corpse lying on a canvas sheet. The legend continues that the ship always foreshadows the death of someone who will die on the day that it is spotted. As the crew steps back, the identity of the corpse is revealed as a person known by the witness.

The first alleged sighting was made in 1862 by a trapper named Leon Weber. When the crew stepped back, the corpse revealed the body of Weber’s fiancé who died later on that same day. Another sighting of the phantom ship was made by cattleman, Gene Wilson in 1887 when he saw the body of his wife laid out on the canvas. In 1903, another tale describes that when Victor Heibe was chopping down a tree on his riverfront property, he spied the ship. Laid out on the deck was the body of a close friend.

Every case was reported in the late fall, and in all cases, the person seen upon the deck of the phantom ship died on the very same day.

One of the sightings allegedly occurred six miles southeast of the town of Guernsey, Wyoming. Another sighting was said to have occurred at Bessemer Bend on the Platte River.

Black Jack Ketchum Lives On!

Black Jack Ketchum Grave

Thomas “Black Jack” Ketchum was the only person ever hanged in Clayton, New Mexico. He was also the only man ever hanged for train robbery in the entire state, a law that was later found to be unconstitutional. But, it was a little too late for poor Black Jack.

Remembering his experience long ago, a gentleman tells a story of meeting Black Jack Ketchum while camping at the Philmont Scout Ranch. He and several other scouts were backpacking through the mountains, visiting various historic sites, including an abandoned gold mine, a ghost town and one of Black Jack Ketchum’s outlaw hideouts.

The hideout was a large rock overhang and the scouts thought it would be fun to camp there for the night. However, their leader insisted that they stay at a nearby-designated site. Disappointed, several of the scouts set their tents up several hundred feet away from the leader’s tent, hoping they would have a chance to sneak back to the hideout later that night.

About 11:00 p.m., when the rest of the camp was fast asleep, five of the scouts gathered their sleeping bags and quietly stole back to the hideout. They set up camp under the overhang and built a fire, where they sat around talking about their trip. When the fire burned down to nothing more than red coals, the scouts settled down in their sleeping bags. The storyteller drifted off to sleep thinking about Black Jack. Suddenly, he was awakened by a noise in the bushes. He said that he felt paralyzed, unable to move and tried to call out to the others, but his throat was all knotted up.

Black Jack and his gang often hid here in what is now called Black Jack Canyon near Raton, New Mexico.

Then he saw a cowboy, dressed all in black come running out of the bushes toward the hideout. He said the man was mostly solid but some parts of him appeared translucent. He described the man as filthy dirty, with a tattered hat, clothes from the 1800s, and terribly yellowed teeth. His face was very red, glistening with sweat, with lots of facial hair and the apparition held a revolver.

The cowboy was apparently unaware of the scout, but the boy was very scared, as much by his inability to move than by the man. As he watched, a strange fog emanated from the tree line across from a small stream and he could hear men yelling unintelligibly, and then muffled gunfire. The cowboy turned and fired his revolver six times into the trees and then ran and stood right over the scout. The cowboy was wounded in the shoulder and discharged six shell casings from his revolver right on top of the boy.

As he watched, the casings disappeared as they fell onto his sleeping bag. The cowboy then reloaded his revolver, fired additional shots into the trees, and suddenly the cowboy saw the scout. The expression on the cowboy’s face indicated that the scout had just suddenly appeared before his eyes. The cowboy seemed to be confused and confounded, while the scout was terrified. Then, the cowboy un-cocked his pistol, looking at the scout very closely, and said, “You’re not supposed to be here,” and then just disappeared into thin air.

Ghost Cowboy

Eventually, he was able to go back to sleep but had to be shaken repeatedly by his fellow campers before waking in the morning. As the scouts broke camp, the boy told his fellow campers about the “dream,” who were amused by the story. But, as the scout rolled up his sleeping bag, he found six shell casings in the dust.

Later, when they returned to base camp, the scout visited an old saloon, where a photograph of Black Jack Ketchum was displayed. The photograph was the same man that the scout had seen at the hideout.

When he told his friends, they brushed him off, as setting them up for a big hoax and the scout never told anyone about it again, but he kept the shell casings. After the scout returned home, he checked with a gun expert who said the casings were dated from sometime around 1878 but were in almost brand new condition and the gunpowder could still be smelt in them. In fact, the gunpowder was one that was used in the last century, but not today.

The scout kept the casings for years, but unfortunately, after he moved away from home, his mother threw them out along with several other items the boy had saved, such as comic books and baseball cards.

Haunted Oakland

In 2005-2006 I was a instructor and security for Salvation Army Adult Recovery Facility in Oakland's downtown, just next to 880 off Broadway. While teaching a 8pm evening class of 12 men in the dining hall , 9 of the men in class pointed out a dark gray shadow in kitchen area, which when I turned around saw as well, shadow was about 6' tall and moved through out kitchen , towards dining hall, back towards dock elevator There was no access to kitchen but from dock elevator (which closed at 6pm) or through dining hall. The light from dining hall well lite the kitchen area , myself and 3 of the guys from class walked through kitchen , down hallway to where elevator was located, elevator was up on out floor and we had to turn on hall / back room lights , yet shadow had disappeared. Being that I was security as well, I would do my rounds throughout facility and every time I passed the dining room, had a feeling that I was being watched. The night desk man claimed he saw shadow and felt as if he was being watched at times while at desk. He even says he had seen shadow by staff offices which are located on separate floor in same building. I returned a few years ago to talk with some of the instructors I knew while I worked there and the sightings still occurring.

The House On Sunnyside Road, Marysville Washington

I've lived in a house that was built, maybe in the 20's. But this place. Had. Ghosts. I lived there when I was 1 - 6 years old. My neighbor was an old woman. Very nice. Her husband died in the backyard cutting down tree's in the late 80's. but I think his ghost went into the wrong house and was pissed off. I can remember, For some reason every night I would walk out to the hallway for some odd reason. And i'd look down the hallway and see a Tall black figure with big smile and big white eyes (no pupils) and a spiky looking head. Then I'd here in a disembodied voise "HEY YOU!" and then it would levitate itself forward at me and make this weird music mouth drumming sound "chi chi CHI CHi chi chi CHI CHI chi chi CHI CHI" and i would run into my room and go back into my bunk bed (nobody slept on the bottom bunk) and then i would go under my covers and "chi chi CHI CHI chi chi CHI CHI HAHAHAHA 'dunnnnn' " and then i would go into blackness for a second and then this trippy yellowish background would pop up and then the spirit would be right in front of me smiling, then i'd hear it yelling cuss words at me and it would make me scared but i couldnt do anything! So then I would wake up and I would get pushed off the top bunk and cry. My parents still don't believe me. I want ghost adventures to go there. contact me for more info. -carterbradygregg@gmail.com

The Korean Building

This scary story was told by my close friend long time ago. She told me that when the koreans build their houses(in blocks), they always left the 4th floor empty whereby the lift will not stop at the 4th floor. Once my friend happened to stay in korea and her neighbour(Lynn) had met the frightening incident personally.

It was a rather late and eerie night and Lynn was about to return back home after her night class. As she was scared, she phoned her mum to wait for her under the block. When she reach her flat, she saw her mum standing there waving at her. They entered the lift and when they reach the 4th floor, Lynn said,Mum, I always felt strange and eerie whenever the lift reach here. Her mum turn around and said,Dear, do you think I'm your mum? And Lynn let out a terrible cry!

The Clerk's Final Farewell

My husband Frank and I run our own business. Our junior clerk, Darren, was more like a brother and friend than an employee to us. We knew he'd been having some rather traumatic times with his girlfriend, but as he was simultaneously doing brilliantly at university, we assumed that he was strong enough to cope with romantic tangles.

We bade goodbye to Darren shortly before Christmas, 1989 as we were setting off on a two-month tour of the country. He seemed quite cheerful when we asked how his love life was, and we were happy when he reassured us that everything between them was fine. When we returned to Melbourne, Frank decided to go to the races at Flemington the following day, which was a Saturday. When he returned, he said to me, "Guess who I saw at Flemington? It was Darren." I said, "I never knew he gambled. In fact, I thought he was against it!" My husband replied, "Well, he did look a bit sheepish when I spoke to him." I said, "Are you sure it was Darren?" Even as I spoke, I realized it was a silly question. Darren was a very unusual looking youth - one could describe him as "pretty" with his soft features, beautiful complexion, and doe-like eyes. Frank confirmed that it was Darren, looking as he always did. He had greeted Darren, who had smiled, as though embarrassed to be caught betting, and then the crowds separated them for a moment. My husband saw Darren walk away, then turn once again to give his usual, enigmatic smile before disappearing once more into the throngs.

Frank then realized that he hadn't reminded Darren to come in and do the bookkeeping. He asked me to ring Darren and arrange for him to do this task the following day. I rang Darren's home, and his girlfriend answered. When I asked for him, she became rather cagey. Finally I said, "Look, I'm his employer and we need him to do the books." She said, "Yes, now I know who you are. Darren doesn't live here anymore." I said, "Well, can you give me his new address and phone number then?" Eventually, after a lot of hedging about, the girlfriend told me that Darren was dead.

I nearly fell over with the shock. I asked if he'd been killed in a car crash en route home from the races the previous day. She was very taken aback and told me that Darren had never been to the races in his life. I said, "Yes, he was at Flemington. My husband saw him there yesterday, but forgot to mention the bookwork to him, which is why I'm ringing now." The girlfriend responded shakily, "That's not possible. You see, he died on New Year's Day, by drowning himself."

We visited the grave, checked the obituaries and spoke to the police who'd been in charge of the coronial enquiries. It took many weeks before the realization of his suicide fully sank in, and my husband, a rationalist who does not believe at all in the supernatural, was very perturbed. He reasoned that he must have seen somebody who resembled Darren. To this I replied that when they had met, near the bookmakers' booths, they were only a meter apart, and Frank could hardly have been mistaken at that short distance! Personally, I keep an open mind about ghosts. I like to think that Darren was saying farewell to us and I sincerely hope, wherever he now is, that he has peace. - F. Lata

Coincidental Tunes

My friend and I experienced a very strange coincidence several years back that still has us scratching our heads. She had purchased a new CD - a compilation of songs from the '60s. We went for a drink after work that night and I asked her if we could have the bartender play her new CD on the stereo. She was hesitant because she was afraid we'd forget it, but agreed. Well, of course, we did forget it and when I realized it the next day, I told her I'd call the bar and ask them to hold the disk for me until I could pick it up after work. I called the bar, asked the bartender to look for the CD, and read him the rundown of songs on the disk from the empty case my friend had given me, so it would be easy to locate. He quickly found it and agreed to hold it for me until after work. When I went to pick it up, he handed me the CD - and to my shock and amazement it was the wrong one. This CD had every single song, in the same exact order, as my friend's CD, but they were "covers" by other musicians, not the original recordings of the songs. Isn't that bizarre? - Jean-Chris M.

My Son Saw a Ghost

On April 20, 2002, I had just put my baby daughter to bed and told my son to go brush his teeth. A few minutes later he came into my bedroom and said, "Mom, I just saw a ghost." We had not been talking about ghosts, nor is he the kind to make up stories. I asked him exactly what he saw. His reply was, "It looked like an army man because of his hair. He had a plaid shirt, glasses and a moustache." Then I asked where he had seen the ghost, to which he answered, "It came out of the mirror in my bathroom." Trying to lighten the mood, I jokingly asked him, "What did it do, sit on your sink?" He was very serious and scared. "No," he said, "it stepped through my sink and looked at me. Then it went back in the mirror."

By this time I was a little scared. We went back into his bathroom, but nothing was there. I told him I believed him, and we said a prayer and went to sleep. About an hour later, I noticed that it was becoming very hot in the house. It was nearing summertime; we'd had temperatures in the 80s and 90s, so we keep the air running even at night. I went downstairs to double-check, and the heat was turned up! I definitely did not turn it on, and my son is too small to reach the thermostat. My husband was out of town at the time. We live in a brand new house on a military base. We are the first family to live here. I'm just wondering if a soldier got killed somewhere nearby... and can't find his way "home."

Impossible Phone Call

My uncle died a week before Christmas, 2001. This devastated his family, his son and daughter more than any. In April, 2002, his son was at work and left his mobile phone in the car while he went to a shop. On return he had three missed calls registered, two from his wife - and one from his father's mobile phone. He was really distressed by this and is searching for an explanation. When his dad died, they removed the sim card from the original phone belonging to his dad and gave the phone to a grandchild. The sim card was thrown away into the refuse. We hope that it is a sign. Could dad really be trying to ease his son's pain by making this effort from the other side? - Sonaya

Faerie Rock

When I was about eight or nine, I went to a Girl Scout camp. I had heard that faeries lived there, but wasn't really sure. There was a rock close to our cabin that we called Faerie Rock. It was covered with many different colors that no matter how hard we would try to wipe them off, we couldn't. There was a large hole that went into the middle of the rock, but we couldn't see the inside. A few of us stuck our heads in there to try to see some things. Some said they saw a head or something, but since all that happened to me was a fantastic smell when I peeked in, I wasn't sure if they were telling the truth. That night, our last night at camp, I was having a hard time getting to sleep. All of a sudden, at around 1:00 a.m., someone else who was awake yelled, "Look! Faeries!" Sure enough, when I looked through the window next to her bed, I saw a group of small lights flying by. They were a bit bigger than fireflies. Seeing that really made me a believer of faeries. - Carrie M.

Cemetery Ghost

My daughter, my husband and I do some charity cleaning with others at a turn-of-the-century cemetery, Evergreen Cemetery. As the men and my daughter were pouring water into a dirty vase, we were talking about eight more graves we needed to really clean that we had just found among bushes and thorns. I then noticed an elderly lady walking slowly toward a grave. It appeared that she was reading it. So I told my daughter to wait there while I went to see the lady. My daughter kept on washing other vases. I started walking toward the grave where I had seen her. As I kept my eyes toward where she was... she disappeared! Etched on the grave she was reading was the name Isabelle. Was it hers? The gravesite was very old and dirty, so I brought over some flowers from the ones I donated and placed them on her grave. One week later, her grave was cleaned again but now with fresh planted flowers! It seemed Isabelle knew that some of her relatives were coming to plant them for her as she wished.

Girl of His Dreams

In 1974 in high school, I fell asleep during class and had a strange dream. I saw a beautiful woman of Asian descent standing next to me talking to me in some strange language. She then disappeared like she was being beamed up in "Star Trek" and I woke up screaming, "Who are you?" I started having the same dream on a monthly basis for the next seven years. One day I was in South Korea teaching for the US military. That morning I had the last dream I have had in this series. In this last dream the woman spoke to me in Korean, which I understood by then, saying "Don't worry, I'll meet you soon."

That evening, I stepped off a bus and stood face-to-face with the girl in the dream! I proposed three days later, married her six week later and we have been married almost 20 years. I can't explain how this happened, other than to speculate that we knew each other in a prior life, had some sort of tragic love affair and vowed to meet somehow in the next life. - Jake A.

Ghost Over the Water

I was walking my dog along a trail that runs beside the Han river here in Seoul South Korea. My dog froze in his steps when we were walking along the bank. I had just lit a cigarette so my eyes were not adjusted to the dark very (it's almost 6 a.m. now), but I could clearly see something got my dog's attention. I looked up and saw something over the water. I wrote it off as some reflection at first. The river runs though the city and there are many buildings and highrises in the area.

But then I saw it was actually over the water but not making any kind of ripple just two or three yards from the bank. At first I couldn't tell much about it; it looked like a small wisp of white dust, but it glowed just over the water. It started to materialize (for lack of a better word) and in disbelief I could see what it was. It was what looked like a Japanese soldier in a battlefield uniform. I could make out his boots and his very distinctive hat, and the buttons stick in my mind. He had a rifle slung around his back and seemed to walk toward the bank. I couldn't see much detail in his face, but he seemed to be looking for something.

I couldn't say a word. I was frozen, but my dog walked a little closer to him and he looked down at my dog and I think he smiled at him. My dog started to wag his tail and smell around the air. I tired to call my dog back to me, but I just couldn't make words. I was so scared I couldn't even run. He and my dog were about 15 or so feet away from me at this point. My dog looked back at me and then so did the soldier. He seemed to be life-size, about 5-1/2 feet in height.

As he looked up at me, he seemed to want to talk to me. He looked like he was stammering; I couldn't see much for detail, but I could tell by the face. But then he just vanished, much like he appeared. I am still trying to write this down while it is still very fresh in my mind. Normally, I'm the type of person that doesn't buy any of this kind of stuff, but now I don't know. I'm still scared out of my wits. Oh, and by the way, my dog is perfectly fine, he doesn't seem to know what he just saw and sniffed.

Readers' Stories of the Paranormal

In the routine of our everyday lives, it's often easy to forget how remarkable the world can be. Yet every once in a while, the commonplace, the "normality" of the day-to-day is shaken up by astonishing, sometimes eerie events that are not easily explained. Take, for example, these true stories from readers of fleeting ghosts and shadows, amazing coincidence, and startling premonitions:

Girl of His Dreams
In 1974 in high school, I fell asleep during class and had a strange dream. I saw a beautiful woman of Asian descent standing next to me talking to me in some strange language. She then disappeared like she was being beamed up in "Star Trek" and I woke up screaming, "Who are you?" I started having the same dream on a monthly basis for the next seven years. One day I was in South Korea teaching for the US military. That morning I had the last dream I have had in this series. Followed By the Shadow Man
The first time I saw the words "Shadow People," it really startled me because the term perfectly described something a close friend of mine encountered years ago. One sunny afternoon, he and I were walking through a heavily wooded area of a park and he all of a sudden became very agitated and wanted to leave. I pressed him for several hours as to his change of mood.

He finally told me a story about when he was 11 years old. He and his older brother shared a bedroom. In the middle of the night he awoke to see a black outline of a person standing it the center of the room. He couldn't see details such as arms or legs, but there was definitely a neck and head, and the top of the head was a little wider and seemed to him to be the brim of a hat. He was sure that this was not a shadow because he could not see through it (streetlights shined through the windows, so the room was not pitch dark). It seemed to have some depth to it. He said that he ducked under the blankets and stayed that way for several minutes. When he peeked out again, the thing was still there, but it had moved to another spot in the room. After about 10 more minutes of hiding under his blanket, he looked out again and saw the thing standing right next to his bed and it seemed to him almost like it was leaning forward a bit. At this point he started crying and put the blanket back over his head. He did not remove the cover until his mother came in to wake him in the morning.

I asked him why he was thinking about this incident now and he said that he saw "it" in the woods where we were walking. - Diane W.

- Carrie M.

- Sonaya

- F. Lata

Water Heater Materialization

I haven't had too many experiences with the spiritual world, but A LOT of people who I know have. There are just a few random things I'd like to share just to see what others think.

I am convinced there is a spirit of some sort living in my Dad's house. He is not sure if there is one or not, but sometimes when he comes home at night, the pictures on top of his T.V. are moved around. He lives alone, so no one else is in the house to move them. Sometimes when I am over there, I will see a flash of light go by for no apparent reason. He sees it to. We don't know what it is though.

This is what scared me more than anything though; A while ago, he needed a new water heater. He had no idea where to get one, what they looked like, what size to get, or anything. He was completely clueless. He racked his brain to figure out what he should get and had no idea. One day, he went in the basement to practice on his guitar (my dad is a musician, and spends most of his time in the basement recording). When he went down there, right in front of him was a water heater. The exact one that he needed! Neither of us have any idea where it could have come from. Again, I say, he lives alone, so there is NO one there who could have done it. He is the ONLY one who has a key to his house.

Also... I am not sure if this is relevant in any way, but the house he lives in used to be a church.
